SAVVY is a Zambia–China mining and trading company focused on connecting Zambian mining opportunities with international investors.
We work closely with Chinese companies looking to enter Zambia’s mining sector, providing support across exploration, investment analysis, equipment sourcing, and project execution.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Mining Intelligence & Research Intern to support our Zambia operations.
This role focuses on collecting, organizing, and analyzing information related to mining opportunities, geological data, and equipment supply, while supporting internal research and external content development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mining & Exploration Research
Identify and document mining opportunities (licenses, small-scale operations, exploration sites)
Collect basic geological information on identified sites (commodity type, location, activity level)
Support validation of information through available sources
2. Market Intelligence & Data Structuring
Build and maintain structured databases of:
Mining opportunities vs Current Geological data
Local operators / license holders in areas of interest
Equipment suppliers for exploration sites and active mining sites
Identify missing data and flag gaps for follow-up
3. Tender & Procurement Support
Assist in identifying relevant tenders (mining equipment, lab equipment, exploration tools) , data consolidation and context
Support preparation of application documents
Help compile technical and supporting information for submissions
4. Content & Reporting
Assist in creating:
Weekly mining insights reports
Short research briefs
Structured summaries of opportunities
Translate technical mining information into clear, usable formats
Requirements
Background in Geology, Mining Engineering, or related field
Basic understanding of:
Mining operations
Exploration processes
Commodities (especially copper, gemstones preferred)
Strong research and organization skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
Preferred (Not Mandatory)
Exposure to small-scale mining in Zambia
Basic understanding of mining licenses and regulations
Experience with report writing, data collection , exploratory geology and basic metallurgy.
Ability to work on backend data aggregation and analysis using Ai based data tools for prediction and analysis.
